Upper Michigan Attractions in Iron County
Iron County Courthouse was built in 1890 and is located Crystal Falls (shown on left) at the head of Superior Avenue. The Iron County Historical Museum is Upper Michigan's largest outdoor museum. Located in Caspian, it includes the Caspian Mine headframe, engine house, historical buildings, and over 75 major exhibits, just to name a few!

Natural attractions can also be enjoyed in Iron County. There are many gorgeous waterfalls such as Bond Falls, Agate Falls, Horserace Rapids, and Canyon Falls which can provide excellent hiking. In the spring, there are nature trails for hiking, and mushrooming. Summertime is ideal for golfing, swimming, boating, Upper Michigan Fishing, camping, and suntanning.

There are 314 lakes and aproximately 900 miles of rivers in Iron County. For golf enthusiasts, we invite you to experience the Iron River Country Club, the George Young Golf Course and Recreational Complex and the Crystal View Golf Course.

There's fishing and hunting during the fall along with our spectacular fall color tour. Iron county boasts an abundance of tree species that participate in the smooth transition of color. We also have a number of fall festivals to enjoy. The roads and trails are alive with those enjoying the cooler weather and the scenery.

Iron County is a snowmobiler's paradise. Our 300 miles of carefully groomed trails provide the very best in Iron County Snowmobiling. Each year brings more participants to Iron County as the word gets out that "it doesn't get any better than this" when it comes to snowmobiling.

Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, snowboarding, snow tubing, ice-fishing, and downhill skiing are just some of our winter highlights.
